Overwatch 2, League of Legends conclude fall; Super Smash Bros. awaits playoff opponent

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Two of three Bellevue University esports titles have wrapped up competition for the fall portion of the season.

League of Legends completed play during the Swiss Rounds of the NACE StarLeague with a 5-2 record. The Bruins – featuring Joseph Porter "Xage", Logan Caldwell "Ace", Danny Spongberg "Spongey", Linfeng Tang "Kouyechris", Haopeng Zhou "Benko" – won their first playoff match, dismissing the University of Missouri 2-0 to reach the semifinal round of the playoffs where they were eliminated, 2-0, by Lewis University.

The Overwatch 2 team - comprised of Nick McCormick "Vita", Veronica Haggerty "Wicca", Mark Kvashin "Karova", Avery Hogue "AV2RY", and  Stone Nettles "Stone" - posted a combined 13-8 record across a pair of competitions in the fall. BU went 8-3 during the Collegiate Homecoming program, reaching playoffs and the Round of 32. They also took part in the University of Kentucky Invite, where they went 5-5 competing almost exclusively against highly ranked competition.

The fall esports season continues with the Super Smash Bros. playoffs. BU's Josiah Ellwein "VC" is competing in the NECC Ultimate Singles league. He wrapped up a 4-2 regular-season and is awaiting his playoff opponent.
