OW2 wins first two matches of Homecoming; SSBU, OW2 compete at MAGE

Collegiate Homecoming

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The nationally ranked Overwatch 2 team kicked off their competitive slate this weekend with a pair of wins in the Overwatch Collegiate Homecoming Tournament on Saturday.

Bellevue began the day with a 3-0 victory over North Carolina State and backed up the performance be also sweeping Arizona State, 3-0.

In the match with the Wolfpack, the Bruins won by scores of 2-0, 2-1, and 3-0. They followed up that success with a sweep of the Inferno (Arizona State) by identical scores of 2-0, 2-1, and 3-0.

Mid-America Gamer's Expo

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa -- Both the Overwatch 2 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate teams competed in the Mid-America Gamers Expo over the weekend at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Josiah Ellwein represented BU in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, collecting a 25th place finish out of 47 of the top gamers in the region.

The Overwatch 2 team also competed at MAGE, winning eight of nine matches en route to a third place finish at the competition.

On Wednesday, Apex Legends resumes AVGL play at 6 p.m. and on Saturday, Overwatch 2 takes on Case Western Reserve at 1 p.m. in the third round of Overwatch Collegiate Homecoming with a fourth round match coming shortly after against an opponent to be determined.

Bellevue will also host the second edition of the Brawlhalla Collegiate homecoming beginning Saturday at noon.  The Brawlhalla event drew 49 competitors last month and is likely to exceed that number this time around.
