Bruins tie for fifth at HUE Invitational

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Led by a new coach, David Castillo, and playing their final Overwatch event as a program (before transitioning) to Overwatch 2, the Bellevue University Esports team took fifth place over the weekend at the 2022 Harrisburg University Esports Invitational.

The Bruins kicked off bracket play with a 3-map victory over Boise State University on Saturday before dropping into the loser's bracket after falling, 2-0, to hosts and top-seeded Harrisburg University. Coming back on Sunday, BU fell 2-0 to Fisher College to be eliminated from the event, tying with St. Clair University for fifth place.

Bellevue qualified for the 2022 HUE Invitational by running through a four-team group stage event last month in which they defeated Bryant & Stratton College, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), and Rutgers University twice each to become one of eight teams to qualify for the in-person event over the weekend.

More information on future events will be forthcoming later this week.
