League of Legends defeats Wheaton; Hearthstone players rank up

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University League of Legends team worked their way back into the win column in the RIOT College League of Legends Championship while a pair of Bruins turned in impressive performances in a Hearthstone ranking tournament over the weekend.

League of Legends: Bellevue 2, Wheaton 0

Bellevue took the first game of the match in a crisp 18:31, needing just 13 kills to take a 1-0 match lead.

The second game provided a little more challenging with BU ending with a 35-25 kill advantage in a time of 33:55.

With the victory, BU improves to 2-1 in RIOT CLoL North Conference play while the loss drops Wheaton to 1-2.

BU's League of Legends team has their next scheduled match on Saturday, Feb. 16 against Augustana College at 3 p.m.

Hearthstone:

On Saturday, a pair of Bellevue Hearthstone players competed in the Black Claws x ZOTAC Tournament, a ranking tournament, to establish additional stats and player history.

Both Nicholas Kujawa and Gabriel Eckenroth had strong showings as the pair placed 24th and 26th out of 83 participants, respectively.

The Hearthstone team is scheduled to play their first competitive match on Monday, Feb. 18 against an opponent to be announced within the next couple of days.
