Warriors deal Bruins midweek loss

FREMONT, Neb. -- Midland University out-hit the Bellevue University baseball team 14-6 en route to a 14-4 victory in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Moller Field.

Midland improves to 5-16 with the victory, their second-straight, while Bellevue slides back to the .500-mark at 10-10 overall.

Seven pitchers worked an inning apiece for Midland in a staff game. Starter Geoffrey Allen (1-1) allowed two runs in his inning of work, though just one was earned, to collect the victory.

Five of the six runs allowed by Bruin starter Cannon Close (0-2) were unearned as he was hit with the loss in an inning of work.

Steven Elsner put BU on the board in the first with his eighth home run of the season, a two-run shot to left.

Midland scored 10-straight before the Bruins manufactured runs on ground balls from Balas Buckmaster and Elijah Tanner in the fourth.

Joshua Hardamon blasted his second home run of the game in the sixth and Midland tacked on two more in the seventh to invoke the 10-run rule victory.

Elsner finished 2-for-4 and Anthony Lind joined him with a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 in the loss. Scott Hansen and Tanner accounted for the other two BU hits.

Bellevue returns to action this weekend with a scheduled four-game series against Peru State College. The Bruins will host Peru State on Friday and Sunday for single games beginning at noon and the Bobcats will entertain the Bruins for a double-header on Saturday beginning at noon.
