Baseball lands nine on Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete list

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- In an announcement made today by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), nine Bellevue University baseball athletes were named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes for the 2023-24 academic year.

Those honored with the prestigious academic award include Bruins Nick Grade, Gage Juhlin, Anthony Lind, Brendan Luther, Parker McMan, Kenji Miller, Dustin Schorie, Austin Shever, and CJ Townsend.

Bryan (Tenn.) paced the nation with 22 honorees, followed by 19 from Midway (Ky.), 18 from Union (Ky.) and 17 from Indiana Tech.

The 2024 list features over 1,300 student-athletes from 165 teams who achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution. To be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale; appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport, and have attended one full year at said institution.

The Bruins posted a 39-14 overall record this past season, taking home both the North Star Athletic Association Regular Season and Tournament Championships. In winning the conference tournament, BU qualified for their 13th-consecutive NAIA National Tournament and the 26th in program history.
