CHICKASHA, Okla. -- The Bellevue University baseball team scored three two-out runs in the eighth inning to record a 4-3 come-from-behind victory at the University of Science & Arts (Okla.) Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Bill Smith Ballpark.

With the win, the Bruins evened their record at 4-4. USAO dropped to 5-4 overall on the season.

The Drovers grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on an RBI single to center field by Ian Ortiz that scored Ben Bach from third, who reached base earlier in the inning on a Bruin fielding error.

Bellevue tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the fifth on an RBI single to center field by Anthony Lind that plated Bryce Zimmerer from third.

A run-scoring single to left field by Gage Ninness helped USAO regain the lead at 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth frame.

The Drovers extended the advantage to 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh on a groundout RBI by Ben Lawson.

The Bruins took their first lead of the contest in the top of the eighth inning on an RBI triple to center field by Alec Ackerman and on a two-run homer to right field by Logan Grant, giving BU a 4-3 advantage.

Starter Dustin Schorie retired four straight batters and, after giving up a pair of one-out singles in the bottom of the ninth, was replaced by Cade Herrmann.

After Herrman gave up a single to load the bases with one out, he struck out Lawson and induced a groundout to pinch-hitter Will Hoch to end the game and earn the save.

Schorie (1-0) earned the win, giving up seven hits and two earned runs with one walk and four strikeouts in 8.1 innings of work.

Kyler Denton suffered the loss, scattering four hits with no walks and three strikeouts in five innings on the mound.

The two teams will complete the three-game series on Sunday with an 11 a.m. doubleheader at Bill Smith Ballpark.
