All-American closer McMan signs with BU

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University head baseball coach Duane Monlux announced today the signing of Parker McMan (Bozeman, Mont./Umpqua CC) to a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at BU beginning in the fall.

McMan, a 6-3, 200-pound right-hander signed with the Bruins after an outstanding junior college career at Umpqua Community College where he was coached by three-time NAIA National Champion Jeremiah Robbins.

In two seasons at Umpqua, McMan pitched to a 4-1 record with 10 saves and posted a 1.33 ERA across 54.1 innings of work. He struck out 63 batters while issuing just 10 walks for a 10.4 K/9 and 6.3 strikeout-to-walk ratio. In limiting opponents to just a .222 batting average, McMan posted a miniscule WHIP of just 1.03.

During his breakout 2022 campaign, he went 4-1 on the hill with 10 saves, a 1.30 ERA and 59 strikeouts against just seven walks across 48.1 innings. He was even better in the regular-season, pitching to a 0.60 ERA. For his efforts, McMan earned first team all-NWAC, first team all-Region, and first team All-American (Pacific Association) honors.

Coach Monlux on McMan:

"Parker is a big time signing. We are so thrilled that he is joining the Bruin Baseball Family. He is a very good right-handed pitcher that we feel will have an immediate impact on our program. He is a proven bullpen arm that has pitched at a very high level in long relief and short relief."

McMan joins earlier signees Hunter Herpel (OF, Mayville, Wis./Hibbing CC), Ayden Adams (RHP, Federal Way, Wash./Everett CC), Titus Oien (LHP, Vancouver, Wash./Clark College), Nick Grade (3B, Kennewick, Wash./Columbia Basin College), Logan Grant (UT, Calgary, Alta.), Jake Lacey (OF, Gillette, Wyo./Miles CC), and Jacob Pubill (RHP, Daly City, Calif./Laney College) in the Bruins' 2022 recruiting class.

Bellevue wrapped up its 2022 season earlier this month with their 15th Avista NAIA World Series appearance. During the campaign, the Bruins posted a 49-13 overall mark, going 25-2 in conference play and sweeping both the NSAA Regular-Season and Tournament titles. BU took the league's lone automatic bid in making their 24th NAIA National Tournament Appearance, hosted their fourth Opening Round at Don Roddy Field, and reached the Avista NAIA World Series for the third time in the past six full seasons.
