Cahill hauls in NAIA Pitcher of the Week Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Bellevue University senior Graham Cahill (Omaha, Neb.) has been named the NAIA Baseball Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the national office on Tuesday afternoon.

Cahill fired a no-hitter in Bellevue's 8-0 win over Presentation on Friday. The no-hitter was the first by a Bellevue pitcher since Mitch Savine and Derek Browne fired a combined no-hitter against Dakota State on Apr. 24, 2019. Cahill allowed just two base-runners – a runner reaching on a wild pitch strike three and a fifth inning error – and struck out nine without allowing a walk.

For the week, Cahill worked 10.1 hitless innings on the week striking out 13 batters and issuing just two walks. He earned the win against Presentation and did not factor in the decision as a reliever against Dakota State.

On the season, Cahill is 4-1 and sports a 2.17 ERA across 10 appearances, seven of which have been starts. He has struck out 48 batters in 45.2 innings (9.46 K/9) and issued just 18 walks while posting a WHIP of 1.14

Cahill is the first Bruin to earn national honors since Derik Bontempo on Apr. 4, 2017 and the first pitcher to do so since Kyle Kinman on Mar. 18, 2014.

Bellevue hosts Midland University (20-25) for a double-header today at John Stella Field at Brown Park. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
