BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University baseball ran their win streak to nine games as they cruised to a pair of victories over Viterbo University on Saturday evening in North Star Athletic Association action at Bellevue West High School.

The Bruin offense erupted for a 28-3 victory in game one of the double-header before a strong pitching effort in the nightcap led BU to a 6-0 win.

Records:

Bellevue: 16-13 (6-0 NSAA)
Viterbo: 6-15 (1-5 NSAA)

Game One: Bellevue 28, Viterbo 3

After BU jumped out to a 4-0 lead after an inning of play Viterbo clawed back with a three-run second to cut the Bruin lead to just a run. However, Bellevue pushed across eight runs in the second and 10 more in a third inning that saw the home side notch 10-straight hits with seven going for extra bases during that span.

Bellevue pounded out 28 hits in the opener to match their 28 runs scored.

Kory Longaker and Tommy Hansen led the offensive barrage, with each going 4-for-4 in the ball game. Longaker totaled a pair of doubles, a home run, four RBI, and three runs scored. Hansen recorded a double, home run, a pair of walks, one RBI, and five runs scored.

Riley Baasch and Austin Alexander led the way with five RBI apiece with Baasch going deep twice and Alexander one. Bailey Link accounted for the other BU homer in the game.

All 14 players that recorded an at-bat tallied at least one base hit with nine players having multi-hit games.

Colten Walker (2-2) earned the win behind a season-high nine strikeouts over six innings of work.

Ryan Boelk (0-3) took the loss for Viterbo.

Game Two: Bellevue 6, Viterbo 0

Bellevue scored a run in each of the first three innings and hung a three-spot in the fourth to back Stephen Knapp's (5-2) five-hit, complete game shutout. Knapp struck out six batters in seven innings of work.

Kory Longaker scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first to put BU on the board first.

Travis Tanaka doubled the BU lead with an RBI-single in the second and Cody Banks made it 3-0 with his second home run of the season in the third.

A sac fly from Banks, a Viterbo error, and a Tommy Hansen RBI-single pushed BU's lead to 6-0 in the fourth and Bellevue held on from there.

Samuel Torsey (1-3) took the loss despite allowing just one earned run. His defense committed five errors behind him to account for the remaining Bruin runs.
