Poh, Banks earn NSAA Pitcher, Player of the Week

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- For the second time this season the Bellevue University baseball team has swept the North Star Athletic Association weekly awards program as announced by the NSAA on Monday afternoon.

Jarrett Poh (Richmond, Va.) and Cody Banks (Duvall, Wash.) were named the NSAA's Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively.

Bellevue (13-13) posted a perfect 5-0 week, including a four-game NSAA sweep of Mayville State, to run their overall win streak to a season-best six games.

Poh marks the third NSAA Pitcher of the Week selection for the Bruins on the season. Poh fired his second-straight complete game shutout in game three of the weekend series against Mayville State. He struck out 10 Comets in seven innings of three-hit ball. For the year the southpaw is now 2-0 with a team-best 1.72 ERA and a team-high 25 strikeouts.

Banks becomes the second Bruin to earn NSAA Player of the Week honors for the year. Starting at second base in all five contests Banks posted a .588/.632/.822 slash line which included three doubles and a triple along with five RBI. He registered four multi-hit games and scored seven runs. For the season Banks is now hitting .358/.441/.494 with eight extra-base hits, 15 RBI, and 22 runs scored.

Bellevue travels to Peru State College on Wednesday, Mar. 27 for a 3:30 p.m. game against the Bobcats at Centennial Complex Field.
