Warner downs BU, 10-3

LAKE WALES, Fla -- After jumping ahead 3-0 after an inning of play, (RV) Warner University put the game away with a seven-run second en route to defeating the Bellevue University baseball team 10-3 in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Royals Field.

Records:

Bellevue: 5-11
Warner: 17-5

Recap: Warner 10, BU 3

A bases loaded walk to Ronny Penalo and a two-run single from Rafael Astacio in the bottom of the first staked Warner to an early 3-0 lead on Monday.

Bruin pitching ran into further trouble in the second inning as Warner scored seven times in the frame to push their lead to 10-0. Eight of the first nine batters to come to the plate reached base safely courtesy of six base hits, a walk, and a hit by pitch in the inning.

Kory Longaker delivered a bases-clearing double in the fifth to help the Bruins avoid the shutout.

Jaryd Clary (4-0) earned the win for the Warriors. He did not allow an earned run over five innings. He struck out five against three walks and four hits. Ryan Klingler worked two shutout innings to preserve the win.

Travis Tanaka, JT Patterson, and Cody Banks accounted for Bellevue's three other hits on the day.

Graham Cahill (0-2) took the loss after lasting just 1.1 innings in his first start for BU. Mitch Savine threw well in relief, logging 4.2 innings and holding Warner to one run on five hits and striking out four.
