BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University seniors JT Patterson and Stephen Knapp both took home North Star Athletic Association weekly honors in the second award period of the season.
Patterson was named the NSAA Player of the Week while Knapp took home NSAA Pitcher of the Week honors for their performances in last weekend's series against #24 Keiser University.
Patterson slashed a strong .500/.583/.833 with four doubles, five runs scored, and four RBI for the No. 23 Bruins who took one of three games from Keiser to open their Florida trip. Additionally, he became the first Bruin to post a four-hit game this season, going 4-of-5 with a pair of doubles and RBI in the series finale.
Knapp fired a light's out performance for the Bruins to lead them to a 10-2 series-opening win against the Seahawks. He hurled eight innings of four-hit ball, limiting Keiser's potent office to just two runs while striking out five batters. He retired the side in order in six of his eight innings on the hill.
It was the first career NSAA weekly award for both players.
Bellevue is currently 5-9 on the season and face #18 Webber International University at 6:30 p.m. on Monday evening.
