Thorp earns NSAA Pitcher of the Week honors

MADISON, S.D. -- Bellevue University baseball senior pitcher Dylan Thorp (North Vancouver, B.C.) has been named the North Star Athletic Association's Pitcher of the Week, it was announced by the NSAA office on Monday afternoon.

The award is the second of the season for Thorp who was also named the league's Pitcher of the Week back on Mar. 26.

Thorp turned in a pair of strong performances for BU. In seven innings of work Thorp struck out 15 batters and allowed just one walk while posting a 1.29 ERA. He picked up the win in game three of the series against Waldorf, pitching six innings of five-hit ball and striking out 12 batters.

The southpaw also struck out three batters in an inning of relief in a mid-week match-up with Midland.

Thorp has moved into sole possession of the team lead in victories with seven (7-3) and has posted a 3.38 ERA for the season.

Bellevue wrapped up the regular season with a 33-21 record, going 17-5 in NSAA play. They will be the 2nd-seed in this weekend's NSAA Tournament and take on 7th-seeded Valley City State University in the first round. Game time is set for Friday, May 4 at 1 p.m. at the University of Jamestown's Jack Brown Stadium.
