CRETE, Neb. -- Playing their final game before a 10-game road trip in the Sunshine State, the ninth-ranked Bellevue University baseball team suffered a 15-1 loss on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action at the Doane Baseball Field.

BU falls to 3-4 on the season. Doane, winners of back-to-back games, improves to 5-4 overall.

Doane used a pair of big innings – scoring four runs in the first and six in the third – to turn an early 1-0 deficit into a comfortable lead en route to the victory.

Bellevue struck first in the opening half inning. Kory Longaker led off with a triple, one of two extra-base hits for the Bruin second baseman on the day, and came in to score on a wild pitch.

Colten Barnes falls to 1-2 with the loss while Doane's Caleb Goedeken improves his record to 2-0 on the year.

Doane out-hit Bellevue 20-3 on the day. It was the most hits by the Tigers since they pounded out 26 base knocks against Winnipeg back on Sept. 17, 2016.

Blake Macdonald collected Bellevue's other hit on the day.

Bellevue plays a three-game set at #10 Keiser this weekend. The Bruins and Seahawks will play an 11 a.m. (CT) double-header on Saturday, Mar. 3 and wrap up the series with an 11 a.m. (CT) game on Sunday, Mar. 4.
