Nicks named NSAA Player of the Week

Senior infielder/pitcher Todd Nicks was selected as the North Star Athletic Association's Player of the Week for his performances in Bellevue's three games last week. 

Nicks, who was named the NSAA Pitcher of the Week on March 13, was a dynamic offensive threat for the No. 8-ranked Bruins as they went 3-0 on the week. In the non-conference action versus Doane, he was 2-of-3 at the plate with a pair of doubles, three RBIs, a run scored and a walk. Nicks recorded his first five-hit game of the year in the first game of the North Star's doubleheader versus Winnipeg (Manitoba), which included a pair of doubles and a home run while driving in six runs and scoring four times. He extended his hitting streak to eight games in the second game of the doubleheader versus UW, with a 1-of-3 effort that included his seventh home run of the season. 

For the week, Nicks was 8-of-11 at the plate with a batting average of .727. He also registered a slugging percentage of 1.636 with four doubles and two home runs. He drove in a total of 10 runs and scored six times for the Bruins.

Bellevue is currently 21-8 on the season and 2-0 in the NSAA. The Bruins will complete their four-game home series with the University of Winnipeg with a 1 p.m. doubleheader today at Westgate Field in Omaha.
