
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Bellevue University baseball landed three players on the NAIA Baseball All-America teams selected today by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association All-America Committee.
Senior catcher Osvaldo Gonzalez was named to the first team. Senior right-handed pitcher Steve Sarcone earned second team honors and sophomore right-handed pitcher Stephan Meyer garnered honorable mention recognition.
Gonzalez, the 2014-15 Bellevue University Male Athlete of the Year, led the Bruins with a .418 batting average, 29 doubles, 16 home runs, 65 RBIs and a .779 slugging percentage. He was named the MCAC Player of the Year and his 29 doubles led the entire nation in 2015. Gonzalez was named the NAIA National Player of the Week on April 7 and he was also selected the the MCAC Gold Glove Team.
Sarcone and Meyer shared MCAC Pitcher of the Year honors this season.
Sarcone was a first team all-MCAC honoree in 2015 after earning second team honors a year ago. He led the Bruins with 118 strikeouts while recording a 10-1 record and a 1.51 ERA in 14 appearances. Sarcone recorded a career-high 17 strikeouts in a complete-game 7-0 shutout victory at Waldorf on April 24. He had four double-figure strikeout games this season.
Meyer earned first team all-conference accolades while leading the Bruins with 11 wins and a 1.47 ERA. He recorded a team second-best 101 strikeouts in 13 appearances on the mound. Meyer had three games with double-figure strikeout totals including a career-high 13 K's in BU's 7-0 win at Waldorf on April 25.
Bellevue finished the 2015 season with a 46-15 overall record, winning the MCAC Tournament title while advancing to the NAIA National Tournament for the 18th time in school history.
