BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The 13th-ranked Bellevue University baseball team used solid pitching and timely hitting to record a 3-2 win in the opener before being shut out 3-0 in the nightcap as the Bruins split a key MCAC doubleheader with eighth-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University Saturday afternoon at Roddy Field.

The Bruins moved to 33-10 on the season with the split and 11-5 in the MCAC. Oklahoma Wesleyan is 37-8 overall and 16-4 in league play.

The Eagles won three of four games in the weekend series.

Bellevue will travel to Fremont, Neb. on Tuesday, April 14 for a 5 p.m. non-conference clash at Midland University.

Game 1: Bellevue 3, Oklahoma Wesleyan 2

Stephan Meyer registered a four-hit, nine-inning complete game win and the Bruins produced one run in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to register the 3-2 comeback victory in the opener.

The Eagle loss snapped OKWU's 12-game winning streak.

Zair Koeiman's solo blast over the center field fence gave the Eagles a 1-0 advantage in the top of the second. Brandon Cummings' suicide squeeze bunt scored Avery Flores from third to increase the Eagle lead to 2-0 in the fourth.

An RBI single by Aaron Brasher put the Bruins on the board in the bottom of the sixth, slicing the lead to 2-1.

The Bruins tied it at 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh on a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to left field by Colton Nash which drove in Kevin Rodriguez

After a two-out double by Tyler Blood, Rodriguez drove in Blood with a single to center to give BU a 3-2 lead in the eighth frame, chasing Eagle starter CJ Gregory off the mound.

Meyer (7-2), induced three-straight ground outs in the top of the ninth inning to secure his seventh win of the season. He retired 13-consecutive Eagle batters to end the contest, while giving up no walks in the game and striking out nine batters.

Game 2: Oklahoma Wesleyan 3, Bellevue 0

Eagle starter Aaron Garner did not allow a hit until the seventh inning as OKWU salvaged the split with a 3-0 win in the nightcap.

Consecutive doubles by Flores and David Espinoza gave the Eagles an early 1-0 advantage in the top of the first inning.

Run-scoring singles by Koeiman and John Davenport pushed the OKWU lead to 3-0 in the top of the fourth.

Gabriel De La Rosa and Todd Nicks spoiled Garner's no-hitter with singles to the outfield in the seventh inning but the Bruins could not produce a run as Garner improved to 6-0 on the season with the shutout. Garner struck out one batter and walked one in the Eagle win.

Sean McManus (6-2) suffered the loss, scattering six hits with three walks and five strikeouts in seven innings on the mound.
