Kinman named honorary captain of NAIA all-Nebraska team

Senior left-handed pitcher/left fielder Kyle Kinman was named the Omaha World-Herald's honorary captain of the 2014 NAIA baseball all-Nebraska team announced today. 

In addition, senior first baseman Charlie Krueger, senior third baseman Nate Mullins, junior short stop Galli Cribbs, and senior left-handed pitcher Ricky Holm also garnered first team honors. 

Kinman, who earned honorable mention All-American honors, batted .387 with 18 doubles, five triples, nine home runs, 66 RBIs and 11 stolen bases.

The Omaha, Neb., native led the nation in strikeouts with 141 and was named the MCAC Pitcher of the Year. He compiled an 8-4 record and a 1.85 ERA in 92.1 innings of work.

He was named the NAIA National Player of the Week on March 18 after striking out a school record 22 batters which was also the most in the NAIA this season.

Krueger earned second team all-MCAC honors after missing the team's first 22 games. He led the team with a .710 slugging percentage and was second with 17 doubles and 10 home runs and fourth with a .341 batting average and 38 RBIs. 

Mullins, a two-time first team all-MCAC selection, belted a team-high 11 home runs while batting .315. He finished second on the team with 49 RBIs and third with a .560 slugging percentage.

Cribbs earned first team all-MCAC honors and was third on the team with a .344 batting average and second with 49 RBIs and 13 doubles.

Holm, a first team all-MCAC honoree, led BU with a 10-2 record and seven complete games. He was second on the team with 116 strikeouts and third with a 2.28 ERA.

Junior catcher Aaron Brasher, junior left-handed pitcher Brennan Henry, and junior right-handed pitcher Steve Sarcone all earned honorable mention recognition. 

The Bruins finished the season ranked No. 14 in the NAIA with a 40-17-2 overall record and an 18-6 mark in the MCAC.
