OMAHA, Neb. -- The 21st-ranked Bellevue University baseball team completed a four-game sweep of Central Christian College Saturday afternoon in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Westgate Field.
With the series sweep, Bellevue improved to 30-13-2 and 14-6 in conference action while Central Christian dropped to 20-31 overall and 4-16 in the MCAC.
The Bruins will play their final regular season conference series when they host Central Baptist College on Friday-Saturday, April 25-26 at Westgate Field.
Bellevue 5, Central Christian 1
Kyle Kinman struck out 16 batters to lead the Bruins to a 5-1 victory in the first game.
Galli Cribbs, Devin Ferguson, and Nate Mullins all went 2-for-4 at the plate. Ferguson recorded a pair of RBIs while Mullins scored twice.
Kinman improved to 7-2 in the complete game five-hitter.
Mullins doubled and came around to score on Ferguson's RBI groundout to give BU an early 1-0 lead in the second.
The Bruins scored on an RBI double by Ferguson and added another two runs on a CCC throwing error and wild pitch to extend their lead to 3-0 in the home half of the sixth inning.
Levi Cartas' eighth inning single plated Ferguson from second base to give BU a five-run advantage.
CCC scored its lone run of the contest following a Bruin error in the ninth inning.
Nicholas Campos took the loss and fell to 3-2 after giving up four runs on six hits with two strikeouts in six innings of work for the Tigers.
Bellevue 2, Central Christian 0
Kinman went 2-for-3, Mullins hit a home run and Steve Sarcone struck out nine batters to propel the Bruins to a 2-0 win.
Sarcone (4-3) gave up just one hit, without a walk, and earned his fourth win of the season.
Zack Clark opened the bottom of the first off with a double to right field and scored on Kinman's infield single to shortstop to give the Bruins an early 1-0 lead.
Mullins blasted his seventh home run of the season over the left field fence to give BU a 2-0 advantage in the fourth frame.
Robert Hawkins (4-7) allowed two runs on five hits and struck out four in the loss.
