BU rolls past third-ranked Embry-Riddle, 11-1

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The 14th-ranked Bellevue University baseball team defeated No. 3 Embry-Riddle (Fla.) Aeronautical University 11-1, in seven innings, Monday night in nonconference action at Sliwa Stadium.

Bellevue won its fourth-straight game and improved to 6-5 while Embry-Riddle dropped to 10-9 overall.

The Bruins have now posted four wins over NAIA top 10 teams this season.

Ricky Holm moved to 1-1 after recording seven strikeouts in the complete game.

BU scored three runs on three hits in the second inning. Colby Fitzgerald, Tyler Blood and Levi Cartas each recorded RBIs. Aaron Brasher and Cartas both notched doubles in the inning.

The Bruins scored their fourth run of the game on a wild pitch by ERAU's starting pitcher Tyler Cyr that allowed Nate Mullins to score in the top of the third.

Blood tallied a two-run double and the Bruins added a pair of runs on back-to-back bases-loaded hit batsmen to take an 8-0 advantage in the fourth.

The Eagles scored its lone run of the game on a sacrifice fly by Kevin Lindheim in the bottom half of the sixth.

Kyle Kinman hit a two-run triple and Galli Cribbs followed with a double to give BU a 10-run lead, 11-1, in the seventh inning.

Cyr took the loss and fell to 0-1. He gave up five runs on four hits and five walks with five strikeouts in three innings of work.

The Bruins will play a single nine-inning game at Warner University (9-11) tomorrow. First pitch is slated for 2:00 p.m. CST in Lake Wales, Fla.
