Bruins end season with 6-3 loss to Peru State
PADUCAH, Ky. -- Peru State surged out to a 6-0 lead after five innings, then held on to defeat Bellevue University, 6-3, at the NAIA National Championship Opening Round at Brooks Stadium Friday night.

The loss was BU's second of the tournament, ending the Bruins season with a 40-21 record. 

Tanner Moore went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a double to lead the BU offense. Spencer Duggan finished 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. 

The Bobcats took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a two-run single by Gustavo Arcia. Peru made it 3-0 in the fourth as Arcia drove in another run with an RBI single to center field.

A bases-clearing double by Derek Voigt increased the Peru lead to 6-0 in the bottom of the fifth frame. 

The Bruins got on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth with a two-run double by Moore to cut the deficit to 6-2. A ground-out RBI by Lance Lutz sliced the lead to 6-3 in the top of the eighth. 

Peru reliever Aubrey Dezarn, who helped the Bobcats out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth, allowed just a single in the ninth to earn his third save of the season. 

Bryan Duncan (8-2) got the win, scattering six hits with four walks and three strikeouts in seven innings of work. 

Josh Trejo (4-6) suffered the loss, allowing seven hits, six runs, and three walks, while striking  out three in 4.1 innings.
