Note: The Bellevue University Athletics Hall of Fame was established in 2013 to honor former athletes, coaches, teams, and administrators who have helped create a proud tradition in intercollegiate competition at Bellevue University.

Last spring, the Bellevue University Athletic Department announced the five-member 2020 Bellevue University Athletics Hall of Fame class comprised of Mark Heath-Preston, Krisann Cihal Joens, Gary Blum, Rachel Muller Turek, and Ron Weis.

Mark Heath-Preston (Men's Soccer, 2006-10)

Heath-Preston is among the most decorated soccer players, and most prolific goal-scorer, in program history. He played four seasons from 2006-10 and helping the Bruins win the conference regular season title in all four seasons as well as capture three conference tournament titles.

He is one of just four Bruin soccer players to earn first team all-conference honors in three seasons, was twice selected as the MCAC Offensive Player of the Year, and is one of just five players to twice earn All-America recognition.

Despite losing nearly his entire senior season to injury, Heath-Preston remains the career leader in goals scored (45), game-winning goals (15), points (107) and is part of a three-way tie for sixth in assists (17).

His 2008 season stands out as four program standards he set that year still remain, including his 41 points, 2.56 point per game scoring rate, 17 goals, and his 1.06 goals per game rate.

Bellevue made three regional tournament appearances during his career and earned the program's first trip to the NAIA National Tournament in 2009. He scored an unassisted goal to help the Bruins pick up their first-ever National Tournament victory over Bethel and send the Bruins on to the final site.

Heath-Preston is married to his wife Mollee Heath-Preston. The couple has two daughters, Ivey and Rhys, and a son, Fynn.

He received his bachelor's degree from BU in Health and Human Performance, while also earning a master's degree from Bellevue in Leadership.

Krisann Cihal Joens (Women's Soccer, 1995-98 & Softball, 1997-00)

Cihal was a two-sport athlete for the Bruins in a career ranging from 1995-00. A four-year member of both the soccer and softball programs, she earned Bellevue University Athlete of the Year honors for 1998/99.

On the soccer pitch, Cihal manned the goal. She ranks second all-time in both career saves (256) and save percentage (.880). Her career 0.87 goals against average is third all-time and her 13 confirmed shutouts are good for sixth all-time.

She helped guide the team to a 51-23-1 record during her playing career, including a pair of trips to the NAIA Region IV Tournament in 1996 and 1997. She earned first team all-MCAC honors during the 1996 season after posting a 0.58 goals against average and registering 103 saves.

On the softball field, she posted a career .328 batting average after recording 194 hits, 95 RBI, scoring 117 runs, and registering 226 total bases. She was a two-time all-MCAC selection, earning honorable mention in 1998 and first team accolades in 1999.

During her time playing softball, she helped guide the Bruins to a 176-57 record, win three MCAC Regular-Season titles, a pair of MCAC Tournament Championships, and twice qualify for the NAIA National Tournament (1998, 2000).

Gary Blum (Men's Basketball, 1981-84)

Blum was a three-year member of the Bellevue men's basketball team, playing for the Bruins from the 1981/82 season through the 1983/84 campaign. His career was highlighted by helping the Bruins qualify for the 1981/82 NAIA District XI Tournament.

He is one of just two Bellevue student-athletes to twice earn Bellevue University Athlete of the Year honors, doing so in both 1982/83 and 1983/84. Blum joins fellow Hall of Famer Tim Stutheit in sharing that distinction.

Over his final two seasons, he scored 867 points and grabbed 426 rebounds for averages of 18.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. He hit on 58.7 percent of his field goal attempts and led the team in both scoring and rebounding in both the 1982/83 and 1983/84 seasons.

Blum was a two-time Nebraska Athletic Conference (NAC) first team selection and was named the NAC Most Valuable Player in his senior season.

Rachel Muller Turek (Volleyball, 2006-09)

Rachel Muller was one of the most prolific and decorated volleyball players in Bellevue University volleyball history during her four-year career from 2006-09, capped off by being named a third team NAIA All-American in her senior season as well as the 2009-10 BU Female Athlete of the Year.

Muller led the Bruins to three conference regular-season and three league tournament titles during her four years, helping BU advance to the NAIA National Tournament each of her final three seasons. She guided the Bruins to a program-high No. 4 final national ranking during the 2008 season in which the BU finished with a 32-6 overall record.

During her stellar career, Muller earned first team all-MCAC honors three times, was a three-time all-Region honoree, was named the 2009 MCAC Player of the Year, garnered three MCAC Scholar-Athlete awards, was a two-time Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete, and was the honorary captain of the Omaha World-Herald's NAIA all-Nebraska team in 2009.

She currently ranks third in school history with 1,563 career kills, sixth in career digs (1,829), and fourth in career points (1,783.5).

Ron Weis (Baseball, 1991-94)

Ron Weis helped the Bruins amass nearly 150 victories during his four-year career from 1991-94, helping lay the foundation for Bellevue's 1995 national championship and dominant play nationally in the NAIA.

Weis was a two-time first team all-District XI selection in 1993 and 1994, finishing his career with a .333 batting average, a .398 on-base percentage, and a .530 slugging percentage. He earned all-conference honors three times and was an honorable mention All-American during his senior campaign.

Weis set the school's single-season record with 24 doubles during the 1994 season, helping the Bruins to a 48-11 overall record and a second-place finish in the NAIA Region III Tournament. He finished his senior season with a .462 batting average, eight home runs, and 61 RBIs.

A three-year team captain, Weis was a four-year starter at catcher, capping his career with an incredible 14-of-15 performance in the Midwest Regional Tournament.

Weis signed a professional contract with the Albany Diamond Dogs upon graduating in 1994.
