Men's and Women's Soccer each represented as NSAA Players of the Week

MADISON, S.D. -- A pair of Bellevue University soccer student-athletes were recognized by the North Star Athletic Association as Players of the Week for their performances last week. Madison Lambert was named the NSAA Women's Offensive Player of the Week and Daniel Coupland was tabbed NSAA Men's Defensive Player of the Week.

Lambert remained one of Bellevue's top offensive options with an outstanding week and was rewarded with her first conference weekly award. The junior forward scored goals in each of the Bruins' two games. She rescued a draw with Central Christian on Monday with a goal in the 83rd minute to level the match at 1-1 and force overtime. She followed up that performance by netting another goal on Sunday in a 2-1 victory over Viterbo as BU ended the V-Hawks' 8-game home win streak.

The BU women's team (6-4-1) is back in action tomorrow when they host College of Saint Mary at Bellevue Soccer Club at 4 p.m. for Alumni Day.

Coupland was an excellent two-way player for the Bruins last week en route to his first weekly conference award. The junior defender/midfielder began his week by scoring a pair of goals and helping limit Concordia to just five shots on goal in a 4-1 BU victory over the Bulldogs. On Saturday, he anchored a defense that held Viterbo to just three shots on goal to open the conference season with a 2-1 victory over the V-Hawks.

The BU men's team (6-6-2) returns to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 15 for a 2:30 p.m. match against University of Jamestown at Bellevue Soccer Club.
