Bellevue named Champions of Character institution
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) recently named Bellevue University a Five Star Champions of Character Instiution for the 2009-2010 academic year. The designation is awarded to schools who have demonstrated commitment in five key areas: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

The NAIA, headquartered in Kansas City, Mo., is the governing body for athletics programs at its nearly 300 colleges and universities, including Bellevue University. The organization’s Champions of Character program is designed to instill character values in student-athletes, coaches, and youth in the communities it serves.

As part of this program, BU coaches and student-athletes have initiated and implemented a number of community service projects in the local community, including food drives, volunteering time at local shelters, and reading to elementary-school children.
