    Twenty-three Bellevue University student-athletes earned North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Fall Scholar-Athlete honors in an announcement made today by the conference office. 
  • Nelson Third at Inaugural NAIA Marathon Classic

    Madison Nelson continued her fantastic running of late as she placed third among NAIA athletes at today's California International Marathon. The Marathon Classic is an emerging sport, taking the place of the former marathon event that was part of the outdoor track and field championship.

    Just two weeks after her All-American run at the NAIA Cross Country Championships in Vancouver, Madison Nelson will take to the starting line of the first-ever NAIA Marathon Classic on Dec. 3.
  • Nelson captures third All-American title at NAIA Cross Country Championships

    For the third time in her distance running career for the Bruins, Madison Nelson added an All-American honor to her resume' at today's NAIA Cross Country Championship. The championship was held under sunny skies and mild temperatures at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Washington. Nelson improved four places from her All-Amercian run last year, finishing in 27th position among 331 athletes. The top forty finishers are named to the All-American team.
  • Nelson secures third trip to Nationals with Runner-up finish at NSAA

    Madison Nelson punched her third ticket in three years to the NAIA National Cross Country Championship with her runner-up finish at Friday's North Star Athletic Association cross country meet. Hosted by Viterbo at Maple Grove Venues outside of LaCrosse, the meet was held in perfect running conditions with temperatures in the mid-40's and overcast skies.
  • Bruins battle at Blazing Tiger NAiA Classic

    A perfect day for cross country greeted nearly 600 runners at the first Blazing Tiger NAIA Classic on Saturday morning at Mahoney State Park. Meet hosts Doane and College of St. Mary assembled a field of nationally ranked NAIA teams and brought them to Nebraska for the first time. The Bruin cross country team used the occasion for one final tune-up race prior to the NSAA championship in two weeks and came away with two personal bests.

    For the third time this season and the 11th time in her career, junior Madison Nelson has earned North Star Athletic Association Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week honors for her performance at last week's Platte River Rumble at Mahoney State Park in Ashland, Neb.

    The Bruin cross country teams competed in Friday’s Platte River Rumble meet at Mahoney State Park and faced very talented fields as well as challenging conditions.
  • Bruin runners set personal bests at Briar Cliff Invite

    Perfect weather conditions and a fast course contributed to personal best times at Saturday's Charger Invite hosted by Briar Cliff at the Adams Nature Preserve course. Every Bruin who competed set a lifetime best at their respective distances: eight kilometers (4.97 miles) for the men and six kilometers (3.73 miles) for the women. Sunny skies, a light breeze, and temperatures near 50 created ideal running conditions over the hard-packed crushed limestone loop around the preserve.
  • BU Cross Country compete at Wayne State Wildcat Classic

    Former Wayne State Wildcat and current Bruin Collin Kotz returned to the Wayne Country Club, site of Friday's Wildcat Cross Country Classic, and delivered a top 10 finish to lead all Bruin runners.

    For the 10th time in her BU career and the second time this season, junior All-American Madison Nelson has been named the North Star Athletic Association Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Greeno/Dirksen Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. 
  • Bruin women make improvements at Greeno/Dirksen Invite

    In the women's five-kilometer event, all four Bruin entries improved on their initial outing at Augustana from two weeks ago. Madison Nelson led the way for the Bruins, cutting a half minute from her time at Augie. Nelson finished in 18:38.6 to place 63rd overall, 24th among non-DI, and eighth among NAIA runners. Alicia Rivera Camargo placed 183rd in 20:48.0, and Olivia Russo ran 22:15.6 for 252nd, both running faster times on a significantly more difficult course, while Ashley Guatemala was a full two minutes faster with her 23:28.2 in 283rd place. Runners from Division II Winona State (MN) went one-two to lead their team to the title.
  • 12 Bruin programs named NAIA Scholar Teams

    A total of twelve Bellevue University athletic programs were honored as NAIA Scholar Teams in an announcement made today by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. The NAIA made the announcement as part of its annual NAIA National Awards Day on Friday. The day recognizes the association's highest individual honors and achievements of NAIA student-athletes, administrators, and coaches.

    For the ninth time in her stellar BU career, junior Madison Nelson has garnered North Star Athletic Association Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors for her performance in the season-opening Augustana Twilight Meet in Sioux Falls, S.D. 
  • Bruin Cross Country Opens Under the lights at Augustana

    The Bruin men's and women's cross country squads opened their 2023 season on Friday night in Sioux Falls with their inaugural entry into the Augustana Twilight Cross Country Meet. Thirty-seven teams from NCAA Division I to junior college ran under the lights at Yankton Trails Park. Conditions were warm even after sundown, with temperatures in the mid-80s and a warm south wind.

    Led by two-time defending North Star Athletic Association cross country champion Madison Nelson, the Bellevue University women's cross country team is picked to finish fourth in the NSAA as voted by the coaches in the 2023 NSAA Preseason Poll.
