MADISON, S.D. -- Bellevue University sophomore Lorena Ramirez (Bellevue, Neb.) has been named the North Star Athletic Association Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for her performance at last week's Wayne State Wildcat Classic.

Ramirez was an individual medalist at the Wildcat Classic, finishing sixth place overall with a season-best time of 20:25.87 at the 5K course. Her time was 25 seconds faster than her previous season-best.

The first NAIA runner to cross the finish line, Ramirez guided Bellevue to a fifth place finish overall. The Bruins (105) finished 10 points behind Mount Marty (95) as a team and well ahead of Peru State (173).

Ramirez becomes the first Bruin, male or female, to earn an NSAA Cross Country Runner of the Week award in the program's two-year history.

Bellevue returns to the course on Saturday, Oct. 5 when they compete at the Briar Cliff Invitational in North Sioux City, S.D. Start time is scheduled for 10 a.m.
