Bellevue University head cross country coach Craig Christians announced today the addition of Isabelle Gonzalez (Del Rio, Texas/Del Rio HS) to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Bellevue University beginning in the fall of 2019.

The daughter of Stephanie and Jason Gonzalez, she plans on majoring in biology (pre-pharmacy) at Bellevue University.

Gonzalez, who was a 2017 Texas state cross country qualifier, has recorded personal best times of 17:56 (3 miles) and 19:28 (5K). In track, she has posted personal best marks of 2:26 in the 800 and 5:43 in the 1,600.

"Belle joins a strong women's recruiting class that is going to move our program to the next level," said Christians. "I think she possesses the distance running ability that will enable her to compete with the top runners in the conference and nation. Though we've met just a couple of times, I've been impressed with her positive personality and work ethic and I believe she is going to mesh well with our current team members and incoming recruits. I can't wait to begin working with her."

Gonzalez joins earlier signee Alisiara Hobbs (Topeka, Kan.) in the 2019 recruiting class.

The Bruins finished their inaugural season this fall, concluding with a sixth-place finish at the North Star Athletic Association Championships.
