Bruin head cross country coach Craig Christians announced today the signing of Alisiara Hobbs (Topeka, Kan./Shawnee Heights HS) to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Bellevue University beginning in the fall of 2019.

Hobbs becomes the first women's cross country signee in the 2019 class.

The daughter of Joe and Tiffany Hobbs, Alisiara was a four-time all-city and a two-time all-region and all-league honoree under head coach Andy Bassett at Shawnee Heights HS. She was named Shawnee Heights Inspirational Senior in 2018 as well as the Female Runner of the Year while posting a personal best time of 20:35 in a 5K race.

Hobbs finished 12th at the Kansas State Track and Field Championships in the 3,200-meter run and posted a personal best time of 12:09 in the 3,200. She was a three-time all-city honorable mention selection in track competing in the distance and middle distance races as well as the 4x800 meter relay.

"Alisiara brings the whole package to BU, she's a great runner, great student, and a great leader," said Christians. "I'm so excited to work with her as we move the cross country program forward."

An excellent student, Hobbs was a member of her school's Honor Roll and was named a Kansas Honor Scholar. She plans on majoring in biology with a goal of attending dental school.

The Bruins finished their inaugural season this fall, concluding with a sixth-place finish at the North Star Athletic Association Championships.
