With five P.R.'s BU women show continued progress at Briar Cliff Invite

NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. -- All five runners for the Bellevue University women's cross country team set new personal records as the Bruins, running as a full team for just the second time this season, placed 14th at the Briar Cliff Invitational.

Running Conditions:

The running conditions were described as ideal by Bruin coach Craig Christians with temperatures in the low 40's and a fast course which saw nine runners (men's and women's) establish new personal records.

Recap:

Lorena Ramirez, who narrowly missed breaking the 20-minute mark, was the top finisher for the Bruins on the day. She finished in a time of 20:09.30 (P.R.) which was good for 59th overall and 52nd among scoring runners.

Jordyn Seidel was next across the finish line, in 129th place (77th scoring), finishing in a time of 22:14.26 (P.R.).

Dayana Montano-Salama (24:02.41 - P.R.) and Diana Montano-Salama (25:42.46 - P.R.) were 159th and 162nd overall and 90th and 92nd, respectively, among scoring runners. Emily Gigax rounded out the Bruin lineup with a 165th-place finish, 93rd among scorers, in a time of 28:40.09.

Dordt, paced by a trio of top 10 finishes took home the team title with 59 points, defeating Hastings (77 points) by an 18-point margin. Northwestern (81) was four points back of Hastings in third place.

Bellevue totaled 404 points, 37 back of College of St. Mary in the 14-team field.

Hastings' Heidi Hennings was the individual champion, finishing in a time of 17:59.32. She finished just under eight seconds ahead of second place Annechiena Knevelba (18:07.21) of Dordt. Morningside's Allison Higgins was third in a time of 18:14.51.

BU is off next weekend before returning to the course on Saturday, Oct. 20 when they compete at the Mount Marty Invitational in Yankton, S.D.
