Bruins sign middle blocker transfer from Arizona Western

The Bellevue University volleyball program, under the direction of head coach Trish Siedlik announced today the signing of 5-10 middle blocker Kaylani Reis (Salt Lake City, Utah/Arizona Western College/West HS). Reis will begin her academic and athletic careers at BU beginning in the spring of 2023.

Reis appeared in 43 matches during her 2020-22 career at AWC, recording 141 kills, a .227 hitting percentage, and 102 total blocks.

She appeared in 23 matches in 2022, helping the Lady Matadors reach the Region I championship game. Reis finished her sophomore campaign with 82 kills, 55 blocks, and 10 digs while recording a .194 hitting percentage.

She attended West High School in Salt Lake City and helped lead her team to an undefeated season and a region title as a junior in 2018-19. Reis was named first-team All-Region in both 2019 and 2020. She also lettered four years in track and competed at state in the high jump and 200 meters. She finished her career as West High School's record holder in the high jump.

Reis was a high honor roll student all four years of high school.

Siedlik Quote:
"Kaylani sparked my attention for many reasons. Her dynamic approach to running the slide is smooth and athletic. She is aggressive yet smart with her choices to score along the net. What drew me the most was what Coach Chandler (Arizona Western CC) had to say about her. We love folks that work hard, but Kaylani understands that when you are an athlete, you have to manage everything else too. The balance of good grades, staying in shape, maintaining grades, and maybe needing a job are things our student-athletes all have to do. Kaylani is someone we MUST have here because of her character."

Reis joins earlier signees 5-8 outside hitter/defensive specialist Ali Butler, 5-9 outside hitter/defensive specialist Rowyn Scheer, 5-8 outside hitter Aspen Meyer, and 5-9 outside hitter Kylie Wessel in the 2023 recruiting class.

The Bruins finished the 2022 season with a 28-8 overall record and a No. 14 national ranking, advancing to the NAIA National Tournament for the 15th time in school history. BU shared the NSAA regular-season title with Viterbo after recording a 13-1 conference ledger. The Bruins placed second at the NSAA Post-Season Tournament.
