Bruins sweep Waldorf on Senior Night

BELLEVUE, Neb -- Four Bruins hit over .500 as the 16th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team swept visiting Waldorf University 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-19) in North Star Athletic Association action Friday night in the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center. The Bruins' five seniors: Brooklyn Hundt, Rosa Reed-Bouley, Nicole Meyer, Sierra Athen, and Olivia Galas were all honored following the match. 

The Bruins, who have now won nine-straight matches, improved to 24-6 on the season and 12-1 in the NSAA. Waldorf dropped to 11-12 overall and 2-11 in league play. 

Jacki Apel led the Bruins with nine kills on .667 hitting while adding three digs and three blocks. Allie Kerns finished with eight kills on .636 hitting. She also added five digs and a pair of blocks. 

Nicole Meyer hit .556 with six kills on nine swings while adding three blocks. 

Olivia Galas directed the BU offense to a .341 hitting efficiency while dishing out 35 assists. She also added nine digs, three blocks, and four kills on six errorless swings. 

Raeanne Kimoto tied Galas with a team-high nine digs while adding a pair of service aces, as the Bruins held WU to a .000 attacking percentage. 

The Warriors were led by Alicia Brandt's six kills on nine swings. Kaylee Kidd led all players with 11 digs.  

In a battle for the NSAA regular-season title, the Bruins will host No. 7-ranked Viterbo University on Saturday (Nov. 5) at 1 p.m. in the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center. The V-Hawks currently lead the conference standings at 13-0 and are 26-6 overall on the season.
