BU wins eighth-straight with sweep at Mayville

MAYVILLE, N.D. -- The 16th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball squad used a balanced offense attack en route to its eighth-straight victory with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-12, 25-23) sweep at Mayville State University Saturday afternoon in North Star Athletic Association action at the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse. 

With the win, the Bruins improved to 23-6 on the season and 11-1 in the NSAA. MSU fell to 15-16 overall and 6-6 in league play. 

Junior Allie Kerns led all players with 11 kills on .226 hitting. She added 10 digs for her third double-double of the season, along with a pair of service aces. 

Sidney Sledge produced 10 kills, five digs, and three blocks. Jacki Apel hit .316, finishing with nine kills and four blocks. 

Nicole Meyer registered a .375 attacking efficiency, finishing with eight kills and four blocks. 

Senior Olivia Galas directed the BU offense to a .226 hitting percentage, recording a double-double with 39 assists and 17 digs. She also added four kills and a service ace. 

Raeanne Kimoto anchored the BU defense with a team-high 18 digs as BU held MSU to a .056 hitting efficiency.   

Elora Passa paced the Comets, collecting a triple-double with 10 kills, 12 assists, and 11 digs. 

The Bruins return home next Friday, Nov. 4, for a 7 p.m. NSAA matchup against Waldorf University. The Bruins' five seniors, Brooklyn Hundt, Nicole Meyer, Rosa Reed-Bouley, Sierra Athen, and Olivia Galas, will be honored following the match.
