Kimoto, Galas receive NSAA weekly honors

MADISON, S.D. -- Sophomore Raeanne Kimoto and senior Olivia Galas were recognized this week by taking home weekly North Star Athletic Association honors for their performances in the Bruins' two non-conference sweeps at the Grand View Invitational over Rocky Mountain College and Grand View University. 

Kimoto earned NSAA Defender of the Week honors after moving into the libero position for the first time in her BU career. Kimoto averaged an impressive 8.17 digs per set while adding five assists and three service aces. 

In the three-set win over Rocky Mountain, Kimoto produced 30 digs and a pair of service aces. In the sweep over host Grand View, she registered 19 digs, three assists, and a service ace. 

Galas, who collected her eighth NSAA Setter of the Week honor this season, continued her impressive play, finishing the week with 11.67 assists and 2.50 digs per set while also adding five kills, three service aces, and four blocks. 

Galas dished out 41 assists in the win over RMC and added seven digs and three kills. She followed that up with 29 assists, eight digs, three blocks, and two kills in the victory over GVU. 

Galas leads the league and ranks eighth nationally with 10.92 assists per set.  

The Bruins return to conference action this week when they host Dakota State University on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 6 p.m. in the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
