DES MOINES, Iowa -- The 15th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team earned a pair of sweeps on Friday at the Grand View Invitational, downing Rocky Mountain in the opener 25-17, 28-26, 25-22 before defeating host Grand View, 25-21, 25-18, 25-15.

Bellevue improved to 18-6 with the two wins. Rocky Mountain fell to 11-12 overall. Grand View dipped to 8-15 with the loss. 

The Bruins return to conference action next week when they host Dakota State University on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 6 p.m. in the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center. 

Bellevue 3, Rocky Mountain 0

Senior Sierra Athen pounded 15 kills while adding 16 digs to lead the Bruins in the opener against RMC. It marked her 12th double-double of the season. Sophomore Sidney Sledge also recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs. 

Junior Allie Kerns added eight kills and 13 digs and Nicole Meyer hit .357 with five kills on 14 errorless swings.

Senior Olivia Galas directed the BU offense to a .159 attacking efficiency after producing 41 assists to go along with seven digs and three kills. 

Sophomore Raeanne Kimoto tallied a career-high 30 digs in her first career start at the libero position. BU out-dug the Rattlin' Bears 84-68 in the victory, while holding RMC to a .072 hitting percentage. The 84 digs marked a season-high for a three-set match. 

Bella Bryan paced RMC with eight kills, while Kyra Oakland added seven kills and three digs.  

The reigning NAIA National Defender of the Week, Ayla Embry, led the RMC defense with 22 digs.  

Bellevue 3, Grand View 0

Kerns paced the Bruins with 12 kills on .370 hitting while adding 10 digs for her second double-double of the season. The 12 kills tied a career high. 

Athen added seven kills, 12 digs, and a service ace, while Sledge and Jacki Apel chipped in with six kills apiece. Apel added a match-high five blocks in the win. 

Galas dished out 29 assists while adding eight digs, three blocks, and a pair of kills. 

Kimoto anchored the BU defense with 19 digs as BU held the Vikings to a .068 hitting efficiency.

Sydney Beasley paced the Vikings with nine kills and three blocks. Ellie Dougherty and Rylie Olson both added seven kills.
