Galas honored for seventh time as NSAA Setter of the Week

MADISON, S.D. -- For the seventh time this season, senior All-American Olivia Galas has been named the North Star Athletic Association Setter of the Week for her performances last week on the road at No. 8 Viterbo and Waldorf. It marked the 31st time she has earned the weekly honor in her Bruin career.

In the 3-0 sweep over Waldorf, Galas became the school's all-time leader in career assists. With her 23rd assist in that match, Galas became the program's career leader in that category. She finished the match with 35 assists and now has 6,160 career assists, surpassing Candace Clow, who tallied 6,146 assists in her 2005-08 BU career. Galas broke the school record on Sierra Athen's kill at 22-19 in the second frame.

For the week, Galas averaged 10.83 assists, 2.83 digs, 1.33 kills, and 0.67 blocks per set. She recorded a double-double with 30 assists and 12 digs in the loss to the eighth-ranked V-Hawks. 

In the win over Waldorf, Galas finished with 35 assists, five digs, five kills on five swings, and a pair of blocks. 

Galas currently leads the NSAA with 10.86 assists per set. For setters in a 5-1 offense, Galas leads the country with 1.56 kills per set while hitting at a .353 attacking efficiency.  

The Bruins will travel to Des Moines, Iowa, this Friday, Oct. 14, to participate in the Grand View Classic. BU will battle Rocky Mountain at 1 p.m. and host Grand View at 7 p.m.
