MADISON, S.D. -- Dakota State University rode the solid hitting performances of outside hitters Maddie Polzin and Sydney Schell as the Trojans upset Bellevue University, 3-2 (23-25, 25-20, 25-16, 17-25, 15-8) Wednesday night in North Star Athletic Association action at the DSU Memorial Fieldhouse. 

The loss dropped the Bruins to 16-4 on the season and 7-2 in the NSAA. DSU improved to 13-5 overall and 5-3 in league play. 

Eve Fountain led the Bruins with 19 kills and 20 digs for her team-leading 12th double-double of the season. Sierra Athen also recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs. 

Taylan Keefer registered a career-high 37 digs to pace the Bruin defense. 

Olivia Galas was the third Bruin to collect a double-double with 52 assists and 14 digs to go along with four kills and three blocks. 

Haley Fleischman finished with five kills and a team-high seven blocks. 

Polzin led the Trojans with 15 kills, five blocks, three service aces, and four digs. 

Schnell added 14 kills and 13 digs in the DSU victory. 

The Bruins were plagued by 43 hitting errors and seven service errors in the loss. 

Bellevue will head to Des Moines, Iowa on Friday, Oct. 15 for a pair of matches at the Grand View Invitational. BU will play the host school, Grand View at 1 p.m. before concluding the tournament with a 4 p.m. match against Oklahoma City.
