Fountain, Schendt guide BU to sweep over Avila

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Eve Fountain and Peyton Schendt combined for 24 kills to guide the 11th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-10, 25-19, 25-16) non-conference victory over Avila University Saturday afternoon at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center. 

With the victory, the Bruins improved 9-2 on the season. Avila dropped to 4-12 overall. 

Seventeen Bruins saw action in the victory. 

Fountain finished with 13 kills on .360 hitting while adding seven digs and two service aces. Schendt registered 11 kills, two digs, and a pair of blocks. 

Olivia Galas directed the Bruin offense to a .277 hitting clip, dishing out 35 assists along with seven digs, six kills, and two blocks. 

The BU defense collected 46 digs while limiting the Eagles to 29. Taylan Keefer produced a match-high nine digs in the win while adding four assists. 

The Eagles were led by Kelsey Johnson's five kills on .400 hitting. Hannah Lentell finished with four kills on 15 errorless swings. 

The Bruins resume North Star Athletic Association play on Thursday, Sept. 23, when they travel to Aberdeen, S.D. for a 7 p.m. contest at Presentation College.
