Carson named BU Female Academic Athlete of the Year

Junior volleyball outside hitter Andrea Carson is this year's recipient of Bellevue University's Female Academic Athlete of the Year.

Carson enjoyed a tremendous season both on and off the court. While maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade point average in Business Administration, she earned North Star Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete honors for the third-straight season, while also garnering recognition on the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete squad.

On the volleyball court, Carson earned honorable mention NAIA All-American honors while gaining first-team all-NSAA recognition as well as being named to the AVCA all-North Central Region first team. She was second on the team with 331 kills and had the highest regular-season hitting percentage of any outside in the NSAA at .252.

Carson, who was Bellevue's recipient of the NSAA Champion of Character award, spent most of the academic year tutoring BU students through Bellevue University's Tutor Center.

While striving to earn her Business Administration degree, Carson also has a triple emphasis in Finance, Marketing, and Human Resource Management.

The Bruins finished the 2019 season with a 28-10 overall record, making their 12th appearance in the NAIA National Tournament after finishing second in the NSAA regular-season standings. BU advanced to the NAIA National Championship final site for the ninth time in school history and finished with a No. 19 final national ranking.
