Omaha Westside's Nahayo signs with BU for 2020

Bellevue University head volleyball coach Trish Siedlik announced today the signing of 5-11 rightside hitter Isidora (Izzy) Nahayo (Omaha, Neb./Westside HS) as the newest recruit in the Bruins' 2020 recruiting class. Nahayo will begin her academic and athletic careers at BU in the fall of 2020.

Nahayo, the daughter of Catrina and Etienne Nahayo, prepped at Omaha Westside High School, most recently under head coach Korrine Bowers.

She helped guide the Warriors to a 19-17 record during her senior season, finishing the year with 155 kills, 23 total blocks, and a .205 hitting percentage.

Nahayo plays club volleyball for Nebraska Elite 181 under coach Kaylee Peschong. She helped lead her team a first-place finish in the Mizuno Boston Volleyball Festival earlier this month.

She was named her club team's Most Valuable Player in 2019.

"Izzy is going to add depth to our team on the right side," said Siedlik. Her enthusiasm on the court is contagious and it will blend well with our established chemistry. She is a wonderful student and we are so glad that she wanted to stay local for her continued education."

Nahayo joins earlier signees 5-7 outside hitter/defensive specialist Anna Koehler (Springfield, Neb./Platteview HS), 5-11 middle blocker/rightside hitter Jacki Apel (Bellevue, Neb./Bellevue West HS) and 5-5 libero/defensive specialist Taylan Keefer (Council Bluffs, Iowa/Abraham Lincoln HS) in the 2020 recruiting class.

The Bruins finished the 2019 season with a 28-10 overall record, making their 12th appearance in the NAIA National Tournament after finishing second in the NSAA regular-season standings. BU advanced to the NAIA National Championship final site for the ninth time in school history and finished with a No. 19 final national ranking.
