McPHERSON, Kan. – Junior Symone Faulkner (Denver, Colo.) had a team-high nine kills for to lead the Bellevue University volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-13) victory over host Central Christian College on Friday night, in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference-opener for both schools.

The match was never seriously in question as BU jumped out to a big advantage in the opening set on the way to a convincing 25-12 win. The Bruins followed that up with convincing second and third set victories to as 13 different players saw action with everyone recording at least one kill or one dig in the match.

Freshmen Hope Lambrecht (Wood River, Neb.) and Pimi Dike (Bellevue, Neb.) backed the offensive charge led by Faulkner by recording seven kills apiece. Classmates Rachel Wald (Omaha, Neb.) and Gracie Myers (Treynor, Iowa) each added for kills while sophomore LaJaida Even (Waverly, Iowa) and freshman Abbi Porter (Sidney, Neb.) contributed four each.

The win - the sixth in a row for BU - moves the Bruins to 6-11 on the year and 1-0 in MCAC competition. The loss drops Central Christian to 4-8 overall and 0-1 in the MCAC. The victory was also Bellevue's 21st in a series in which BU has never lost a match or even a set.

Junior Beth Walker (Dubuque, Iowa) posted her team-leading seventh double-double, recording 37 assists and 10 digs in the victory. Freshmen Hannah Taylor (Hallam, Neb.) and Taylor Holz (Omaha, Neb.) each recorded eight digs in the match in support of Walker.

The Bruins out-hit the Tigers .330-.000 for the match while also gaining a 43-26 advantage in digs. BU finished the match with eight service aces and an 8-5 edge in blocks.

Bellevue will be back in action tomorrow when they take on McPherson College and host Kansas Wesleyan University in a triangular, at 4:00 and 6:00 pm, respectively.
