Faulkner leads BU to five-game upset at Briar Cliff

SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- Led by Symone Faulkner's 13 kills and four blocks, the Bellevue University volleyball team won its fifth-straight match with a 25-15, 15-25, 17-25, 25-17, 15-7 victory at Briar Cliff University Tuesday night in non-conference action at the Newman Flanagan Center. 

The Bruins improved to 5-11 on the season with the win. BCU fell to 8-3 overall. 

Beth Walker recorded her team-leading seventh double-double of the season, finishing with 38 assists and 10 digs, while adding a block. She directed the BU offense to a .163 hitting percentage, while the Bruin defense held the Chargers to a .105 hitting clip. 

The Bruins had a balanced offense, with five players finishing with at least six kills. 

Freshman Taylor Holz anchored the BU defense with 15 digs. Addison Smith was also in double figures in digs, registering 10 in the win. 

The Bruins will open up conference play this Friday, Sept. 19, when they travel to McPherson, Kan. to battle Central Christian College in a 7 p.m. match at Alexander Arena.
