OMAHA, Neb. - For the fourth match in a row the Bellevue University volleyball team has dispatched their opponent in straight sets, claiming a 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-19) victory over Southwestern University on Friday night at the Lied Athletic Center.

Southwestern trailed by just two points, 17-15, in the opening set but BU used an 8-2 run to close it out for a 1-0 advantage in the match. The second set was in far less doubt from the onset as the Bruins opened an early 9-2 lead before going on to claim the 25-13 victory after scoring the final four points of the set. The third, and final, set saw Southwestern make things interesting  as they cut what was once a seven-point deficit to just three at 21-18 but once again Bellevue closed strong, scoring four of the last five points of the match to claim their 12th straight set and fourth straight match victory.

BU improves to 4-11 with the win while the loss drops Southwestern to 1-4. Freshman Gracie Myers (Treynor, Iowa) led the team with 12 kills and attacked at .286 while also totaling four digs. Junior Symone Faulkner (Denver, Colo.) was also instrumental in the attack while recording nine kills and a team-best .412 hitting percentage.

Junior Beth Walker (Dubuque, Iowa) scored her sixth double-double of the season, registering 33 assists and 10 digs, to go along with four kills. Freshman Hope Lambrecht (Wood River, Neb.) finished the match with six kills and a .286 hitting percentage and freshman Taylor Holz (Omaha, Neb.) contributed seven digs.

Bellevue out-hit Southwestern by an impressive .259-.000 and tallied 45 digs compared to 38 for the Moundbuilders.

The Bruins will return to the court on Tuesday, Sept. 16 when they travel to Sioux City, Iowa to take on Briar Cliff University at 7:00 p.m.
