Volleyball edges Ozarks to win MCAC Tournament

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University volleyball team posted a dramatic 25-20, 25-21, 19-25, 24-26, 15-13 victory against College of the Ozarks in the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship match Saturday afternoon at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.

With the win, 17th-ranked Bellevue (34-8) earned an automatic berth into the NAIA National Tournament. The 24-team pairings for the Volleyball National Championship Opening Round will be announced on Nov. 18 at noon.

The Bruins have now qualified for seven-straight NAIA National Tournaments and have won four-consecutive MCAC Tournament championships. BU has also won seven MCAC Tournaments in program history.

College of the Ozarks ends its season with an overall record of 23-15.

Annie Benson led the offensive attack with 18 kills and 19 digs for her 16th double-double.

Beth Walker finished with a career-high 59 assists to go along with 15 digs, two blocks and two service aces. This also marked her 16th double-double of the season.

Sydney DeBoer notched 15 kills, six digs and three blocks and Caitlyn Rueth recorded her second-straight double-double with 15 kills and 19 digs.

Courtney Hendricks and Symone Faulkner both registered 12 kills.

Meghan Evans tallied 16 digs and four assists while Kirstine Linebaugh added 14 digs.

The Bruins hit .243 while COFO finished with a hitting percentage of .239. The Bobcats held an 11-4 advantage in total blocks.

Hannah Meadows led the Bobcats with a match-high 19 kills and 15 digs.

BU is 4-2 this season in five-set matches.

Head coach Trish Siedlik has led her squads to the MCAC Tournament title match in all 12 of her seasons as a collegiate head coach and has an 11-1 record in the MCAC championship match.
