No. 16 Bruins sweep Haskell Indian Nations, York

YORK, Neb. -- The 16th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team posted a pair of wins in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action Tuesday night at the Freeman Center.

The Bruins opened with a 25-22, 25-11, 25-11 win over Haskell Indian Nations University before posting a 25-15, 25-13, 25-18 victory against York College in the finale.

With the two wins, Bellevue improved to 28-7 overall 9-0 in conference play.

The Bruins will return to action on Friday, Nov. 1 when they host Oklahoma Wesleyan University and Briar Cliff University at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.

Bellevue 3, Haskell Indian Nations 0

The Bruins opened the evening with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-11, 25-11) win over Haskell. The win marked BU's 19th victory of the season in straight-sets.

Beth Walker recorded 37 assists and 12 digs for her team-best 14th double-double.

Symone Faulkner notched a match-high 14 kills on .571 hitting.

Annie Benson also added 12 digs while Meghan Evans registered 11 to lead the defense.

Kirstine Linebaugh and Sydney DeBoer both tallied a pair of service aces.

The Bruins hit .372 with five service aces and held the Indians to a hitting percentage of just .069.

HINU (8-22, 4-6 MCAC) was led by Tiffany Runs Through's 10 kills and four digs.

The Bruins concluded the night with a 25-15, 25-13, 25-18 win against host York.

Caitlyn Rueth notched her eighth double-double of the year with 10 kills and 10 digs and also added a service ace.

Walker tallied 30 assists, seven digs, two kills and a service ace.

Evans led the defense with 13 digs, two set assists and two aces.

The Bruins outhit the Panthers .281 to .070. YC was plagued by 18 hitting errors.

BU finished with nine service aces, including a career-high four by Courtney Hendricks.

The Bruins have now swept 20 opponents this season.

YC fell to 6-25 overall and 4-7 in the MCAC with the loss.
