POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. -- The 14th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team posted its 16th sweep of the season with a 25-19, 25-20, 25-23 win at College of the Ozarks on Friday night at Keeter Gymnasium in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action.
With the win, Bellevue improved to 23-5 overall and 6-0 in league action while Ozarks fell to 16-13 and 5-1 in the MCAC.
Sydney DeBoer tallied a team-high 13 kills on .476 hitting and also added three block assists while Annie Benson notched her 10th double-double of the season with 10 kills and 14 digs.
Beth Walker guided BU to a hitting percentage of .289 with 40 set assists and 14 digs. This marks her team-best 11th double-double.
Libero Meghan Evans recorded a match-high 19 digs while Kirstine Linebaugh added 11 digs.
The Bruins opened the contest on a 9-2 run before COFO responded with an 8-1 spurt to tie the match at 10-10. BU scored the next six points to take a six-point lead, 16-10. The Bobcats answered back with a 6-1 spurt to pull within one, 17-16, but the Bruins outscored COFO 8-3 to win the opening stanza, 25-19. BU hit .471 with 19 kills in the first game.
Trailing 9-7, COFO used a 6-2 run to take a 13-11 advantage in the second game. The Bruins answered back by scoring six-straight points and eight of the last 13 to pull out the 25-20 win.
Leading by two, 10-8, the Bruins used a 7-2 spurt en route to the 25-23 third set win and complete the conference sweep.
COFO was led by Hannah Meadows' 14 kills and seven digs.
BU improved to 30-14 all-time against the Bobcats.
The Bruins will travel to Conway, Ark. tomorrow (Oct. 12) for a 1:00 p.m. conference match at Central Baptist College (3-16, 0-4 MCAC) at A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse.
