BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University volleyball team swept York College 25-11, 26-24, 25-16 in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action Tuesday night at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.

Bellevue has now won three straight matches in straight sets and improved to 21-5 overall and 8-1 in league play, while York slipped to 15-10 and 5-2 in the MCAC. The Bruins have also won 23 consecutive matches against the in-state conference foe.

Maureen Wardian led BU with 13 kills on .462 hitting while Annie Benson added 11 as the only two Bruins to tally double-digit kills. Jordan Broady, this week's MCAC Setter of the Week, dished out 31 assists and chipped in eight digs and three service aces while directing the BU offense to a .210 hitting percentage.

Mollie Gavin led the Bruins defensively with a match-high 14 digs. Eight different players tallied a block assist, including two apiece by Ashley Wurdeman, Sydney DeBoer, Alannah VanGorder and Wardian.

With the opening set tied at 4-all, the Bruins ended the game on a 21-7 spurt , keyed by six kills by Benson in the decisive run. BU hit .281 while limiting YC to a -.029 hitting percentage. The Bruins recorded four service aces, including two by Caitlyn Rueth.

The Bruins scored four of the first five points en route to a 26-24 second set win. After facing its biggest deficit of the stanza, 22-20, BU scored six of final seven points, capped off by a kill by Benson. BU hit just .186 and was plagued by nine attacking errors. Wardian (6), Benson (5) and DeBoer (4) combined for 15 of the Bruins' 17 kills in the game.  

BU scored the first five points and never trailed in the final set. The Panthers hit -.097 with 10 errors. Wardian tallied four kills and Niki Gregory added three to pace the BU attack.

Laura Tesnohlidek led YC with seven kills.

The BU volleyball team will travel to Michigan for the BLT Sportswear Crusader Classic hosted by Madonna University on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 21-22. Head coach Trish Siedlik will look for her 300th career win. She currently has an all-time collegiate coaching record of 298-79 (.790)
