JOHNSON, Neb. -- The Bellevue University volleyball team swept former conference foe Peru State College 25-17, 25-19, 26-24 Tuesday night at Johnson-Brock High School.

With the win, Bellevue improved to 19-5 while Peru State fell to 6-14 overall.

Annie Benson led the Bruins with a match-high 11 kills. Sunny Bell pounded nine kills on .533 hitting. Maureen Wardian also added nine kills and four blocks.

Ashley Wurdeman led the BU defense with 12 digs and Meghan Evans added 11 as the Bruins held Peru to .168 hitting on the night.

Jordan Broady, playing at her alma mater, collected 31 assists, nine digs and two blocks while directing the Bruin offense to a .322 hitting percentage.

BU capitalized on eight Bobcat hitting errors to take the opening game, 25-17. The Bruins tallied four total blocks, including four block assists by Sydney DeBoer. For the match, BU notched 10 blocks.

Benson led the Bruin attack in the second game with five kills on nine attempts. BU hit .377 and never trailed in the stanza.

The third and final set was tight throughout with neither team gaining an advantage by more than four points. The Bruins survived set point before back-to-back kills by Benson lifted BU to a 26-24 win.

The Bruins will host Evangel University on Friday, Oct. 14. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
