POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. -- The 14th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team split a pair of MCAC matches Friday, dropping a 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-22) decision to College of the Ozarks, before rebounding with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-9, 25-15) sweep over Central Baptist University. 

The Bruins are now 18-5 on the season and 7-1 in league play. Ozarks took over the conference lead, improving to 5-0 in the MCAC and 20-6 overall. Central Baptist fell to 8-15 on the season and 2-3 in league play.

The Bruins were plagued by 24 attack errors, hitting a season-low .075 while seeing their 13-match winning streak come to an end. Annie Benson and Kali Schnacker collected 10 kills apiece to pace the Bruin offense. Meghan Evans recorded 10 digs to lead the BU defense. Jordan Broady dished out 27 assists, while adding three digs and a pair of blocks. 

Hannah Meadows led three Bobcats in double figures with 14 kills on .591 hitting. 

The Bobcats capitalized on eight BU attacking errors and four service errors in the opening set. The Bruins hit just .121 in dropping the first game, 25-23. 

Bellevue trailed 9-2 in the second set before going on a 8-2 run to pull to within one point at 11-10. Ozarks, however, closed the game with a 14-8 spurt to take the frame, 25-18, gaining a commanding 2-0 advantage. BU hit just .031 in the set with 10 attack errors.

The Bruins scored seven-straight points to erase a 15-10 deficit in the third set. After Ozarks tied the game at 17-all, the two teams traded points until the Bobcats closed the match on a 3-0 run, gaining the sweep, 25-22. 

Bellevue 3, Central Baptist 0
Freshman Sunny Bell pounded a match-high 15 kills on .545 hitting to lead the Bruins to the 3-0 sweep over the Mustangs. Sydney DeBoer recorded seven kills on eight swings. Mollie Gavin led the Bruin defense with 13 digs. 

Broady collected her ninth double-double of the season with 37 assists and 11 digs, to go along with three blocks. 

Paced by four kills from Benson and Maureen Wardian, the Bruins cruised to the 25-9 win in the first game after hitting .452.

Bell connected on seven kills and BU hit a scorching .619 in claiming the 25-9 win in the second set. 

Bell once again led the Bruin offense in the third set with six kills in eight swings as Bellevue completed the sweep with the 25-15 win. 

The Bruins return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 11 when they battle former conference rival Peru State at 7 p.m. at Johnson-Brock High School in Johnson, Neb.
