Bruins split Friday matches at SCAD Invite

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- The Bellevue University volleyball team split a pair of matches Friday at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Invitational, defeating the University of Mobile 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-18) before being swept by second-ranked and undefeated Lee University 25-15, 25-16, 25-19.

The Bruins are now 22-8 on the season. Bellevue continues action at the tournament on Saturday (Oct. 16) with an 11 a.m. match against 11th-ranked Embry-Riddle and a 1 p.m. contest with the host school Savannah College of Art and Design.

Bellevue 3, Mobile 0
Junior Kali Schnacker led the Bruins in the win over Mobile, posting a match-high 12 kills, to go along with two blocks and a pair of digs. Freshman Annie Benson was also in double figures with 10 kills.

Sophomore setter Jordan Broady recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 38 assists and 11 digs, while directing the BU offense to a .247 attack percentage.

Senior Katy Gregory also had 11 digs and junior Maureen Wardian collected a match-high four blocks as the Bruins held Mobile to .147 hitting.

Lee 3, Bellevue 0
Lee pulled away late in the first two sets, winning 25-15 and 25-16. However, the Bruins gained a 19-18 advantage in the final set, before the Flames scored the final seven points to secure their 23rd-straight victory.

Schnacker and Ashley Wurdeman each notched six kills in the loss as the Bruins were held to a season-low .026 attack percentage.

Broady registered her second double-double of the day with 23 assists and 10 digs, while also adding a match-high three service aces.
